EDBT Summer School on Data and Resource Management in Ambient Computing

The EDBT Summer Schools are a well established and successful international series organized every two to three years and has been very popular among young researchers in the database area. The ninth edition of the EDBT summer school will be held August 30th - September 4th 2009 at the Holiday Club Belambra on  Presqu'île de Giens in south of France .
It is organized by the Grenoble Informatics laboratory (LIG),  and the LAMIH laboratory.

The EDBT summer school brings together leading researchers of the database community and provides participants the opportunity to gain deep insight into current research trends in the database area.
This year's summer school will focus on Data and Resource Management in Ambient Computing and will cover the following topics :
  • Semantic-oriented data spaces
  • Event and data stream processing
  • Privacy-aware data management and information security
  • Middleware for ambient computing.

The Summer School features lectures, discussions and interactions with highly renowned lecturers recognized as leading experts in their fields.

Participation and Registration


Attendance to the school is limited. Participants will be selected according to the order of registration, the quality of the submitted demand and the institution of provenance to ensure a balanced group of people. PhD students will have to send a copy of their student card at registration time.
A limited number of bursaries sponsored by the EDBT Endowment to fully or partially cover the school fee and the lodging expenses are available. Bursaries will be awarded based upon the background and the scientific performance of the applicants.

The registration fee includes accommodation in a double room, catering Sunday evening - Friday afternoon (breakfast, tea/coffee breaks, lunches and dinners), banquet dinner and proceedings. The registration fee for students is 700 €. The registration fee for young researchers from academia or industry is 700 € but does not include accommodation. Before you register you need to submit an application.
